Shambler
The earth mother’s fury extends to the fauna and flora, corrupting and twisting the vines and trees into spiteful weapons. The Bramble Shamblers are carnivorous plants with dragon-like heads. If left unattended, these weeds sprout into terrifying monsters, sometimes when least expected. Bramble Hunters are fully evolved Shamblers with predatory instincts that aren’t for food and survival; instead, they are compelled by a need to exterminate life in order to restore balance to the earth mother in her rage. Once they find their target, they shower them with thorns projected and rapid speeds. Once they connect, they can infect the target and take over its host completely.

Strategy
Shamblers are an interesting unit that are largely used to hold points or secure buildings. While they aren't exceptionally hardy for a point holder, scattering a couple around the table will help you get use out of their other abilities. They allow adjacent allied models to reroll missed attacks by sacrificing themselves with Fodder which can be particularly relevant on monster activations due to their Hitchhiker special rule which allows them to move along with a monster. If you don't end up needing or wanting the reroll from the Shambler, the Hitchhiker special rule is also great at providing a mobile screen for your monsters, preventing enemy monsters from aligning for a throw or body slam. Lastly, if your Shambler manages to make it to your next turn, they can be exchanged for a more valuable piece, often a Bramble Hunter or a Skull Keeper depending on whether you need an attacking piece or a little extra movement on your turn.
List Building
Shamblers will do well in any list as their rules are just generally good to have around, particularly during your monster activations.
The other Ancient Ones units are excellent inclusions if you want a faction heavy list as this allows you more options for Savage Growth. The Bramble Hunter is a great attacking piece that can also pop out more Ancient Ones units with its Transmute ability. The Skull Keeper is generally used for Savage Growth when you want to cheaply get another unit farther up the board. The Lake Witch is a phenomenal support piece if you have a lot of Ancient Ones units as it can save them with Dark Ritual or make them far more accurate with Black Spot. They also have a good blast attack which can come in handy.
