Krakenoctus
From the ocean’s depths arises the mighty Krakenoctus, a squid-like monster of Leviathan proportions. What has awakened this ocean horror is uncertain, though it is clearly enraged by the destructive forces ravaging the Earth, drawn in particular to battle the Planet Eaters and Lords of Cthul. Accompanied by a swirling whirlpool of salt-water, the passage of Krakenoctus has quenched fires that would otherwise have obliterated embattled cities. Despite its alien and imposing demeanor, it seems to have no particular malice toward humanity or the planet’s other defenders.

Strategy
Krakenoctus was once the terror of the game when he was first released, but since being nerfed in 2021, he's seen very little competitive play. However, all monsters in MonPoc have access to the same power attacks, and as such, the power gap between even the top contenders and the bottom of the barrel is pretty narrow. Krakenoctus makes his money by being extremely disruptive to your opponent's power base with his bizarre brawl attack. First, he has reach, so his brawl attack can target models within two spaces of his model rather than the typical one. He also has Fling and Onslaught on his brawl attack, so he can put a lot of pepper on nearby units and smack them into other models at a greater distance than any blast attack in the game! The second brawl attack he makes in this way is also even more accurate with +2 boost dice. He also has Grappler and Waterlogged which allow him to squeeze into some tight spaces without being damaged by hazard tiles and make it very difficult for opponent's to meaningfully engage him. He's even got 12 health to hopefully extend his life even further. However, he is dragged down a bit by being a SPD 5 pedestrian with a pretty bad hyper. He keeps everything but Onslaught in his hyper form which is a pretty big hit, particularly because what he's provided to make up for it doesn't feel particularly powerful, especially for a form that will be seen more in the late game. He gets Slingshot which extends the range of his Fling and swat power attacks well beyond what any blast could hope to achieve in the game, and he also gets access to super damage on his swat and throw power attacks via Windup. Additionally, he picks up a short-ranged blast attack with Power Drain on it. While a lot of these rules are admittedly quite good, he's not able to clear screens on his own, and his super damage access relies on enemy units being nearby or a clear throwing lane. If your opponent does have a lot of units on the map, he can do a pretty decent job of kiting an enemy monster due to the extreme range of his swat attack, but the spatial limitations on a SPD 5 pedestrian are often too difficult to overcome.
List Building
Incinerus is one of the best partners for Krakenoctus. Not only is he a speedy counterpart with an extremely destructive hyper form, but he can also ignite rubble tiles which synergizes very nicely with Waterlogged to sneak in extra damage on enemy monsters.
The Tectonic Shift action on Mount Terra is an advance, so Krakenoctus may use it to trigger hazard flips from Waterlogged!
Rules Interactions
Remember that stepping is not advancing, so Krakenoctus does not benefit from Waterlogged while doing so.
