Doomsday Crawler

The first of its kind, the Doomsday Crawler is a mobile building designed to get out of the way of rampaging kaiju.

Model Type - Building

Special Rules

Action: Ramming Speed - During your Monster Activation, you can spend one Action Die and one Power Die to perform a Ramming Speed action. Move this model three spaces in a straight line. If it moves into a space occupied by a unit or building, destroy that model. If it would move into a space occupied by a monster, that monster suffers 1 damage, and this movement ends. At the end of this movement, gain one Power Die for each model this movement destroyed, then remove this model from the map. This model doesn't generate a debris tile as a result of this action.

Star Cannon - At the end of your Unit Activation, if you are securing this building, return an enemy unit that does not have Cover to its owner's unit reserves.

Strategy

While the building is very new still, it is worth noting that you can damage one of your own monsters with Ramming Speed which could allow you to get a monster with Flight or Fireproof into hyper during your monster activation where you normally could not. Ramming Speed also collects power dice from friendly model destruction and can function as a screen clear.

Star Cannon is notably not an action which could make this building a high-priority secure for both you and your opponent. However, it could be difficult to get use out of in the early game where the map is blanketed in buildings and monsters that provide Cover.

List Building

This building is too new to make many good calls about list building, but not leaving a debris tile behind when using Ramming Speed might make it a good candidate for inclusion in lists with The Conductor.

Because Star Cannon can only get a unit without cover, rules that make enemy units lose cover such as Pointer can be a great boon to lists that run the Doomsday Crawler.

Rules Interactions

Integrate

If a monster with Integrate uses Ramming Speed, it is removed from the game after the movement has ended. If this were to deal the last point of damage necessary to destroy an opponent's last monster, you win the game because the damage is assigned to the enemy monster prior to your monster being removed.

The win condition for a game of MonPoc specifies that all of your opponent's monsters must be destroyed. While a monster using Ramming Speed would remove it from the game, you may consider it destroyed for the purposes of checking the win condition.

Motivator

Motivator gives a model advancing within 2 spaces an additional SPD. Ramming Speed is a movement, and the building has no SPD stat, so it is not boosted by Motivator.

Repair and Retrofit

When using Ramming Speed, the Doomsday Crawler does not leave a debris tile behind, and it also is removed from the map. However, it is still a “building brought to the game that is not currently in play”, so you may bring it back to the map with a Repair or Retrofit action.
