Armodax

Though the Terrasaurs have shown a remarkable willingness to fight alongside Earth’s other defenders, some are trickier to work with than others. Armodax is a hulking monster covered in armored plates and boasting a weighty clubbed tail that serves better than any wrecking ball at toppling buildings. He has demonstrated unrestrained delight in annihilating skyscrapers, factories, and power plants while clashing with Earth’s foes. Yet there is no question he is worth preserving, given his unstoppable ferocity. His allies have learned to ensure the complete evacuation of any zone he has entered.

Strategy

Armodax is usually considered the hardest monster in the game to kill, especially if you build your list around taking advantage of his Armored special rule in alpha. As such, he's very forgiving to positioning mistakes, but he can also be very frustrating to play against when put in the hands of an experienced player. Armodax is quite capable of generating a lot of power dice between Demolisher in alpha and Riled and Power Gorge in hyper. His offensive output is fairly middling though with the only notable ability being Beat Back brawl in his hyper form. He's also limited to pedestrian status as he lacks high mobility, so he frequently damages himself by moving into hazards.

If you're playing against Armodax, any way you can get extra damage in while he is in alpha is going to help immensely. Despite Armodax being immune to it in hyper, super damage is still a very useful tool to get him out of his alpha form into his squishier hyper form. Hazardous units, extra attacks, and Necroscourge Nexus buildings are also good ways to chip in a little extra damage. Lastly, Armodax is a pedestrian, so if you can force him to move through hazards to get to your monsters, that can help quite a bit as well.

List Building

The Tokyo Triumph is the single most important building when making an Armodax list. You will want as many of them as you can get (remember buildings are limited to 4 each). They are Incombustible, so Armodax won't take any damage from colliding with them while he has Armored. They also have the Spire special rule which makes this building do an extra point of collision damage, so other monsters will still take two damage when colliding with them if they don't have the Armored special rule. This can generate a pretty big health gap if your opponent is careless.

A Temple Monolith or two is also very useful for both Armodax and his partner, but they can be a little expensive to get out. They have the incredible Intercede special rule which states that allied monsters do not suffer damage when colliding with hazards adjacent to this model. These can be very frustrating models for your opponent to deal with when you have an Armored monster like Armodax on the table that is already difficult to kill.

Tectomoc is one of the better partners for Armodax. He has the Improvised Armor special rule which gains him a DEF while adjacent to rubble, so the Incombustible buildings you are bringing with Armodax anyways help him out too. Tectomoc's kit also revolves around stomping which puts out fire hazards to keep Armodax from hurting himself too much.
